Double You Dollars For Chicago Students

For tens of thousands of Chicago’s children, learning doesn’t end at the close of the school day— it continues at one of the 79 Chicago Public Library locations throughout the city.

Every afternoon, kids flock to the Library for homework help from a certified Teacher in the Library. They come to complete school assignments on one of 2500 public access computers and receive computer tutoring from specially trained CyberNavigators. Teens pursue their creativity at five YOUmedia digital learning centers and imagine “cool science” robotics and engineering feats in ScienceConnections.

To help us welcome kids back to the Library this fall, the Chicago Sun-Times Foundation, a fund of the Chicago Community Trust, will match your investment dollar-for-dollar.

We have the opportunity to raise $100,000 to fund out-of-school learning for up to 10,000 students—but we need your help by November 27!

Greenville Literacy Association - Have Any Books Lying Around?

The Greenville Literacy Association created a unique campaign to raise awareness and money for their adult literacy program. To raise money for their program, the GLA organized a book sale. However, for the sale to work, they needed donations.

To raise awareness, they created a campaign called, “Have any books lying around?” The GLA placed wraps on staircases to transform them into giant stacks of books, reminding people to donate any extra books that they had.

The campaign was a huge success, with 80,000 books donated, and $120,000 raised.
