Book Room In The Old Water Tank, Ca. 1873

From the Chicago Public Library Archives: 

Measuring 58 feet in diameter and 28 feet high, the Book Room in the water tank was originally able to accommodate 3, 157 volumes. Its most important feature, however, was that it was fireproof.
