Celebrating Notable Women in Music

Janis Joplin

“If I hold back, I’m no good. I’m no good. I’d rather be good sometimes, than holding back all the time.”—Janis Joplin

The Chicago Public Library is celebrating diversity during Women’s History Month, March 2012, by exploring the contributions of women in music.

In March, the public is invited to visit neighborhood branches, the two regional libraries and the Harold Washington Library Center to participate in and enjoy a variety of free programs highlighting women in music. Programs include classical music performance, a harp performance, adult book discussions, juggling and storytelling for children.
