Dancing in the Library: El Payo Flamenco

El Payo is a popular Rumba/Nuevo Flamenco-Fused group based in Chicago celebrating the release of their self-titled debut album. Their members hail from diverse ethnic backrounds including Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Argentina, Italy and the United States. Their distinct sound is infused with elements of rock, salsa, ska, and reggae with unmistakable overtones of passionate raw energy that is flamenco. They have opened up for internationally known artists like Juan Carmona, Pitingo and Lila Downs.
In this program they will be collaborating with Flamenco dancer Chiara Mangiameli. Chiara will be performing to some tradition flamenco pieces, along with performing to original music by El Payo as well.
