Happy Friday, y’all!

We wanted to share this great shot of Chicago Cubs pitcher Randy Wells at our Lincoln Belmont branch, taken during Wednesday’s Cubs Caravan visit. Wells, along with infielder Blake DeWitt, catcher Koyie Hill and pitcher Justin Berg dropped by to read to the neighborhood kids. The annual tradition is truly a treat for both the youngsters and the players.

After leaving CPL, the Caravan continued on to the state capital where the boys in blue read a story (about Abraham Lincoln’s hat) to roughly 100 3rd graders at Springfield’s McClernand Elementary School.

We are so grateful to the entire Cubs organization for their continued support of education and Chicago Public Library’s ongoing reading programs!

Looking to do a little Cubbie reading of your own? CPL has nearly 200 Chicago Cubs titles available! Browse our online Cubs gallery and reserve your copy today.

As always, thanks for reading and have a wonderful weekend!
