November 11th, 2011

Happy Veteran’s Day! And happy 11.11.11! CPL is open today and we tracked down a few fun facts about this fascinating date:

— It would have been Kurt Vonnegut’s 89th birthday.

— It’s both National Metal Day and Nigel Tufnel Day (ya know, since it goes to eleven).

— It’s the Eleventh Doctor Day, so look for Dr. Who fans in their coolest bow tie and fez.

— It’s the last Binary Day of our lifetimes.

— Corduroy Appreciation Day? Yup.

— It’s a great day to get married and/or have a baby, but if you’re not already doing either of those things it’s a bit too late to start.

— Also, don’t bother showing up at the Great Pyramid of Giza. The numerologist ceremony has been canceled (guess Jewish Masons will have to reclaim the Pyramids on 12/12/12 instead).

— Oh, and if you’re playing 1-1-1-1 in today’s Lottery drawing you’re gonna need more than luck to win.

— Flickr is collecting as many 111111 photos as you care to share

— Mental Floss is publishing a new list of 11 things every hour.

— Speaking of which, here are 11 things you need to know about the 11th November 2011.

— Veteran’s Day-related Fun Fact: WWI ended on the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month of 1918. Weird.
